LETTER OF INVITATION:

Dear ......

We are inviting you / your organisation to take part in a Bioregional Gathering. This bioregional gathering is the first to take place in Kenya as far as we are aware. It is connected to the r3-0 Conference. This Kenyan gathering will take the form of a confluence. There are 18 confluences taking place all around the world.

The cost for you to take part is free, though we are happy if you are able to contribute to the costs via a donation of money, air time, or in the form of future commitment in a commitment pool. We have 2 main aims in the conference:

1. To explore community economics in our setting. To this end we will be running some trainings and would value your participation in them. 2. To connect the idea of bioregionlism to our local work here in Kenya. To do this we will give some presentations and talks.

This confluence will help us connect to you and for us to show you what Hope Rootz CBO has been engaged in. We look forward to getting to know your work and hope that future collaborations will be possible. We also hope that the r3-0 Conference process can be engaged with and so we will collectively connect to that conference and the work that is being done by participants in that endeavour at the other confluences.

The overall aim of the r3-0 Conference process is to adapt our societies to the pressures of climate change on agriculture, people, nature and our livelihoods. "Confluences are a means of advancing their own bioregional governance, strategizing, project development, etc." We will give a deeper explanation of these aspects at the gathering.

Please let us know if you would like to participate in the confluence and we can then discuss how that might look like, so that you can show your work, connect with us in solidarity and finalise the program.

This can be expanded into the idea of a confluence. There are plans for some confluences to happen around the R3.0 Conference 2025 which follows on from the 2024 and is also discussed on the And Now What Facebook group and is being considered by Hope Rootz - see their wiki page for expression of interest.

Uplifting stories The Lake is also troubled by the effects of climate change, pollution and other man made problems such as industrialisation and extraction of sand for the construction industry. You can see more about these issues in this talk: TEENS FIGHTING TO RESCUE & RESTORE LAKE VICTORIA, AFRICA--from the triple planetary threat of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, presented by Millicent Olal-Muchilwa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnVv3APSk1A .
