Search on "universe origins". Contrast the views on this question over time and make some landscape from it.
A thousand years ago 99% of people thought the world is static, unchanging. Whereas today maybe only 10% of people believe it.
Make a list of the relevant properties and considerations
- Static (unchanging) vs. dynamic (changing)
- Imagined ( fantasy / religion ) vs. science derived ( evidence based )
- Past ( ancient ) vs. future ( tech generated ) ideas.
- Singular universe ( one ) Vs. Multiple ( many )
What does "physically changing" mean?
- Hot vs. Cold. Change in temperature.
- Empty vs. full. Volume or mass.
- Large vs. small. Growth. Shrinkage.
- Colorful vs. colorless.
Can we prove that something is static? What would that mean?
- To prove something is static could be done by looking for visual and auditory signs.
- To prove something is static could be done by looking for movement.
- To prove something is static could be done by looking for change in physical properties.
- To prove something is static could be done by looking for temperature changes.
- To prove something is static could be done using a microscope.
