It is a maximum-entropy distribution among the set of generalized binomial distributions {$ B_{n}(\lambda )$} with mean {$\lambda $} and {$ n\rightarrow \infty $}, where a generalized binomial distribution is defined as a distribution of the sum of {$N$} independent but not identically distributed Bernoulli variables.
